What are all these parts on my new popcorn machine?
Being in the concession business not only means you have to know how to make great popcorn using a popper but you also should know what all of the parts on the popcorn machine are and what they do.
Like any machine, each of the pieces described below must work together to make tasty popcorn whose fresh smell makes us lick our chops when at the movies, or the fair or a festival in our community.
Keep reading to learn about the various parts of a popcorn popper and how they contribute to making large quantities of popcorn very quickly.
1. Dome, header or top
Depending on the popper you choose, a dome can be anything from a simple top with no or little graphics to a neon lighted sign. Many popcorn machines allow you to customize the header with either a simple basic lighted sign all the way to custom antique tops.
2. Kettle assembly
Here’s where you pour your popcorn kernels to make the great tasting treat. A kettle assembly includes a heating element in which most are hinged - so once the popping process is complete, you can easily pull a lever, dump the popcorn and start the process over.
3. Access Doors
Most popper models come with easily removable doors for cleaning and are made of lightweight Lexan plastic that’s very durable. Smaller popcorn machines have only one door while larger models come with two.
4. Stainless steel drop shelf
Drop shelf on front of machine allows you to easily scoop popcorn without it falling out of the back. It’s also easily removable for cleaning and made of durable stainless steel.
5. Clean-out drawer
Bottom drawer catches un-popped popcorn kernels that fall through small holes at the bottom of the machine – and it’s easily removable for emptying kernels and cleaning!
Each of these popcorn machine parts listed above come standard on most models. If you find a popper you like and want to learn more, please contact us with any questions or to learn more.
